Check out this 5,100 acre sugar plantation operated in the days before Florida became a state. It employed approximately 1,000 slaves and was owned by David Levy Yulee, who served in the U.S. House of Representatives as well as the Senate after Florida statehood. The mill supplied sugar products for the South during the Civil War.
